House of Commons to Sit in Special Session
Commemorating the Passing of Queen Elizabeth II
Thursday, September 15th
Ottawa, ON - In the wake of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the House of Commons will sit in a special session on Thursday, September 15th. The session will be held to commemorate the life and legacy of the Queen and to express the condolences of the Canadian people.
Government House leader Mark Holland made the announcement Monday at the start of what is expected to be Parliaments final week of sitting. Holland said that the special session will be an opportunity for members of Parliament to pay tribute to the Queen and to reflect on her 70-year reign.
The House of Commons will sit from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday. The session will be televised and will also be available online.
